Alcohol increases adrenaline in your body. This in turn elevates sugar levels which causes you to store fat! There are many natural & healthy ways to relax & let go. Examples include soothing music, massage, deep breathing, progressive relaxation, meditation, yoga, tai chi etc etc So you really don’t need to ever use alcohol for this purpose.
But beyond weight gain, alcohol should also be avoided for 2 other important reasons,
Firstly, every time a person takes one drink – even just a social one – they permanently damage their brain, killing off thousands of brain cells.
Secondly, alcohol causes retardation of new bone formation by damaging the liver and decreasing the intestinal absorption of calcium. This causes a blockage in the metabolic process for supplying your body with Vitamin D, a vital ingredient for calcium use. Consequently drinking lots of alcohol increases your risk dramatically of contracting osteoporosis.
So if you drink alcoholic beverages regularly, make an effort to cut down to only a small amount or, even better, quit altogether. You’ll be so glad you did – drinking alcohol for Weight Loss just doesn’t make any sense!!
