Six Major areas of Life - Decision Time
In the previous article, we discovered what occurred in our past that has led us to our current predicament and what will happen in our future if we do nothing about it. In our final assessment step, we need to start making some decisions.
If you’re not happy with where you will potentially end up in 5 years time, where would you like to be? With our example, we might end up with:
Personal development – 8/10 | Business & Career – 8/10 |
Health & Fitness – 8/10 | Family & home life – 9/10 |
Social – 8/10 | Spiritual – 6/10 |
Social – 8/10 | Spiritual – 2/10 |
So to achieve our desired outcome in 5 years, what areas need to change the most either (a) between now and where we would like things to be in 5 years, and/or (b) where we would end up in 5 years if things continued with no change and where we would like things to be in 5 years? The areas where the most change is required will need to be our highest priorities. Clearly, for our example, applying criteria (a) and (b) they are health & fitness [(a) - 5 (b) - 6] as well as family & home life [(a) - 5 (b) - 6].
On this basis, these should our primary focus areas for the next 12 months with our goals & resources.
We would still strive to maintain balance across all 6 major areas, however, most of time, effort & resources would be applied to those areas that need the most attention.
