In this 7th post in this series, we’re going to continue discussing flexibility when it comes to goal achievement knowing that PEOPLE ALWAYS MAKE THE BEST CHOICE AVAILABLE & how this relates to flexibility for weight loss!
What does this NLP principle mean? Although people always make the best choice available to them, it does not mean that its THE best choice. Most of the time, there are a lot of other better choices that might be available, if only they took the time to figure them out!
This may not be an easy concept to accept, but what you want to accept is the fact that people do the best they can with the resources that they have available at the time!
Let me use an examples from one of my ideal weight clients this week.
My client said that at the end of each week, on a Friday, she celebrates her accomplishments for that week with some wine & chocolates.
This sounds likes a sensible thing to do, however, when it comes to achieving her ideal weight goals – is it her best choice?
Is there not any other way she could celebrate her achievements for the week other than with chocolate & wine? Surely not!
There are a million other ways this client could celebrate that would now serve her better re her health & well being & weight. Here are just some of these:
- Go for a walk with her partner/kids/dog,
- Enjoy some healthy fruit & yoghurt,
- Play a game of squash/tennis/table tennis etc,
- Dance or skip to her favourite songs,
- Go to the movies with a friend,
- Go shopping for some nice clothes, etc etc
What this principle was suggests is that we should never stop learning & finding out new ways of better achieving our goals & desires.
With new awareness, come better choices and finer & finer distinctions. The more choices & options we have, the faster & easier it is to find a better more appropriate solution to our challenges
So my challenge for you for this week is to think of the different choices you are making re your health, well being & weight & ask – Are these really the best choices for me? What are the myriad of other ways that I could achieve the desired outcome that also better serves me in all my other areas of life?
Secondly, ask yourself, what else could I learn that would provide me with more powerful & appropriate options to help better achieve my goals & desires?
As stated in our previous posts in this series, the importance of flexibility for weight loss is paramount. My aim with these posts is to help you introduce more & more flexibility & responsibility into your thinking and your life & see how this has a huge impact on your progress towards achieving your goals – esp your ideal weight!
To your optimum health, well being & ideal weight!
