In this this post, we’re going to continue discussing the effectiveness of hypnosis for weight loss.
Before we begin to discuss the important functions of the Conscious & Unconscious minds, lets explore further what we mean by Daily Trance.
We mentioned in our last post that, whenever we are doing some activity during the day on ‘auto pilot’, where we are doing the task automatically, without really focusing on it, then we’re in hypnotic trance.
If you think carefully about what different tasks you today, the vast majority are the same as those done yesterday! Therefore, many of us live our lives in a trance, simply repeating the same patterns of behaviour each & every day, automatically, without thought.
These patterns of behaviour are reinforced so many times over the years, that they become totally automatic – we no longer question their validity or continuing appropriateness moving forward.
The reality is, however, that many of these automatic patterns of behaviour are no longer appropriate for us. Some examples include
- When I’m stressed, I need a drink to relax!
- When I buy some petrol, I grab some chocolate bars as well,
- When I fight with my partner, I need to comfort myself with sweets,
- When I get home after working at the office, I need to relax watching TV,
- When I watch my kids play sports, I grab a coffee & some muffins,
- When we celebrate a win, champagne is highly appropriate, etc etc
When we look at each of these patterns of behaviour & truly question them, especially when it comes to improving our overall health & wellbeing, and thereby achieving our ideal weight, most will need to be changed to help us achieve our goal.
Most of us have heard that changing habits takes between 3-4 weeks to achieve.
One of the primary purposes of hypnosis is to dramatically shorten this timeframe to only an hour or two, saving a lot of time, money & effort.
So essentially, hypnosis can be seen as the smart way of moving from one form of daily trance to another one, quickly & effectively. Typically, our old daily trance behaviours no longer serve us – we have effectively outgrown them! The new daily trance behaviours, if chosen correctly, more effectively serves us moving forward. This is not the only goal of hypnosis, something that we’ll discuss further in future posts!
In our next post, we will discuss the functions of both the conscious & unconscious minds & the roles they play in helping us change undesirable patterns of behaviour that no longer serve us. This will help continue to clarify the importance of hypnosis for weight loss.
To your optimum health, well being & ideal weight!
